Dr. Sharon L. Pletcher, D.P.M.
Dr. Pletcher is a Central Pennsylvania native who has been serving residents of the State College area for over fourteen years.
Education and Training
Born in Blanchard, PA, Dr. Pletcher graduated from Bald Eagle/Nittany (now Central Mountain) High School and moved on to Rutgers University, where she completed a B.S. in Nursing. She then earned a Doctorate from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine (now Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine) in Philadelphia. Dr. Pletcher completed her residency at University of Pennsylvania Health Systems and is currently affiliated with Mount Nittany Medical Center and Health South/Nittany Valley Rehab. Dr. Pletcher founded the Family Foot Center and has been in private practice since 2001.

Dr. Pletcher is a diplomat of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM) and a member of both the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) and Pennsylvania Podiatric Medical Association (PPMA). She is a foot and ankle specialist with expertise in the following areas:
- conservative non-surgical treatment of foot and ankle conditions including bunions, hammertoes, plantar fasciitis, heel pain, tendonitis, neuromas, arthritis and gout, skin conditions and lesions, fungal toenails, corns and callouses, and bone fractures
- diabetic foot care and evaluations, diabetic neuropathy, and diabetic shoes
- general wound care
- pediatric foot care
- geriatric foot care
- orthotics
Additional Experience and Interests
Dr. Pletcher has long been committed to promoting community health; before becoming a podiatrist, she served as an EMT/firefighter for the Beech Creek/Blanchard Volunteer Fire Company, an LPN, and a registered ER nurse. When she’s not in the office, Dr. Pletcher can be found outdoors kayaking, bicycling, hiking, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing. She also enjoys preparing and eating nutritious meals.
